It is a popular belief that the colour of Mehendi on the hands tells about the love showered by husbands. Darker the colour of the henna on the hand, the more she will be loved by her fiancé or husband. In some places, women also write the name of their husband or beloved with henna on their hands. Its cool nature also serves to balance love and enthusiasm.

Mythological Significance of Haryalli Teej:

It is said that on this day Mata Parvati met Lord Shiva after hundreds of years of meditation. It is also said that Mata Parvati took birth 107 times to get Lord Shiva as her husband, yet the mother could not get Shiva as her husband. When Mother Parvati took birth for the 108th time, then on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya of the month of Shravan, Lord Shiva could be received her in the form of a husband. Since then, this fast is being celebrated

Also, at the behest of Goddess Parvati, Lord Shiva blessed that any unmarried girl who keeps this fast and worships Shiva Parvati, the obstacles in her marriage will be removed as well as a suitable groom will be obtained. Before the occasion of Hariyali Teej, many sweets and dishes are prepared which are given in the form of Sindhare to the married daughter’s house. This dish is then eaten throughout the month of Shravan. Special dishes are offered to Lord Uma-Shankar on Teej. Kheer and Malpuas are made to offer to Lord Shiva. Ghevar dishes are also specially made. Long-lasting dishes like dumplings, shakkarpare, seviyan, mande etc. are also cooked. Suhali cuisine is also prepared in Haryana.

The auspicious time of worship will start at 6.30 am in the morning and will last till 8.33 am. On the other hand, Pradosh Puja can be done from 6:33 pm to 8:51 pm in the evening.
